Display
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 comes with a bezel-less display. This is the third smartphone of the company to launch this year with a bezel-less display. The Redmi 5 sports a 5.7-inch HD display of 1280x720p resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. While, the Redmi 4 comes with a 5-inch HD display of 720x1280 pixel resolution.


Operating system

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system topped with MIUI 9 UI layer of the company, while the Redmi 4 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system topped with MIUI 8.

Processor
Coming to the processing power, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor and the Redmi 4 packs a less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor.

RAM and storage
The company has launched three versions of the Redmi 5 -- 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Just like its predecessor, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 also comes in three versions 2GB/3GB/4GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage. Customers can add more storage by installing a microSD card.


Camera

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies. The company has reduced the megapixel count in the Redmi 5. The smartphone comes with a 12MP primary camera with LED flash and a 5MP secondary camera with selfie flash.


Battery

Along with the camera, the company has also reduced the battery capacity of the Redmi 5 as compared with its predecessor. The Redmi 5 packs a 3300mAh battery, while the Redmi 4 houses a 4000mAh battery.


Price

In terms of the pricing, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 comes with a starting price tag of Rs 7,999, while the price of Redmi 4 starts at Rs 6,999.
